1973. Rock. Gospel. Cosplay.
What's better than reflecting on Good Friday than to watch Andrew Lloyd Webber's monumental musical, Jesus Christ Superstar? Doing it with some friends while dressed in costumes! Maybe Judas's red unitard is what you're aiming for. Or white bell-bottoms? Or maybe everyone will just wear whatever the priests have got on their heads. Regardless, join us for our annual Jesus Christ Superstar Good Friday event!
Can't think of a good costume? Dress up as N.T. Wright, a New Testament scholar, who talks about the first time he encountered the musical:
"I had known Jesus all my life; better still, perhaps, to say that he had known me. [...] But as my bride and I moved in to our basement apartment, I listened to Superstar. [...] It was as though all the energy of the popular culture of the 1960s had suddenly swung around, away from its preoccupation with sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll, and was looking again at the Jesus it had almost forgotten. There was a sense of, 'Oh, you're still there, are you? Where do you fit? What was it all about anyway?'"
